Percy Wyndham Lewis, A Battery Shelled (1919). Copyright IWM Art 2747.
Wyndham Lewis: Life, Art, War marks the 60th anniversary of the avant-garde artist’s death and the centenary of his commission as a war artist. It is the largest UK retrospective of Wyndham Lewis’ work to date, and includes pictures loaned from the Leeds collection. We will be joined on our visit by Nigel Walsh, curator of modern and contemporary art at Leeds Art Gallery.
At Manchester Art Gallery we shall have a guided tour of the 18th and 19th century galleries – which include one of the finest Pre-Raphaelite collections in Britain – with curator Hannah Williamson.
