Little Sparta, Temple of Apollo
This overnight trip to Scotland focusses on two important contemporary sculpture gardens.
Little Sparta, set in the windswept Pentland Hills, is the garden created by Scottish poet and artist Ian Hamilton Finlay. It has been described as one of the wonders of 20th century art, fusing poetic and sculptural elements with those of the natural landscape.
Jupiter Artland, near Edinburgh, is the creation of Nicky and Robert Wilson and was nominated for Art Fund Museum of the Year award in 2016. Opened in 2009 it shows iconic pieces by leading sculptors such as Cornelia Parker, Anish Kapoor, Charles Jenks and Marc Quinn, as well as supporting emerging artists.
