Join us for a Christmas celebration which begins at Cliffe Castle, Keighley – originally home to Victorian millionaire textile manufacturer Henry Isaac Butterfield. In recent years Cliffe Castle has undergone a major restoration including the reinstallation of a magnificent and extraordinary green malachite fireplace. We shall learn more about the chimneypiece and see the restored rooms during our talk and tour with curator Daru Rooke.
Our festive 3-course lunch will be at Oakwood Hall Hotel in nearby Bingley. Oakwood Hall was built in 1864 by another prosperous textile merchant and boasts stained glass by Morris & Co, and a remarkable chimneypiece by Arts and Crafts architect William Burges.
£45, includes coach transport, coffee, guided tour, lunch (with choices for each course)
Pick-up points: Roundhay Park (old tram terminus) at 09.20, Leeds (Aire Street) at 09.40, Kirkstall Abbey car park at 09.55.
