Stass Paraskos was the last artist in England to be prosecuted for obscenity following a police raid on an exhibition of his work in Leeds in 1966.
To complement the Tetley exhibition Lovers & Romances and explore the background to it we will present an illuminating discussion between writer and academic Benedict Read whose father Sir Herbert Read, the eminent art historian, spoke in Paraskos’s defence; well-known local art collector Ronnie Duncan who knew the artist well and was present throughout the trial; and the artist’s son Michael Paraskos.

5.30 pm – tour of the exhibition Lovers & Romances with the Tetley Creative Director Bryony Bond.

6 pm - discussion

Tickets £5 (free to students and under-25s*)

* If you qualify for a free ticket you can reserve a place by emailing susan.page10@btinternet.com
