There have been some remarkably good new acquisitions of silver over the past five years, some of which have attracted international attention including Lord Raby's massive wine cooler; Pierpont Morgan's Elizabethan cup; the James Wyatt ewers and the rococo shell basket.
Their three-dimensional ambitions reflect some of the same qualities of design and craftsmanship found in the work of sculptors and architects.
Our lecturer will be James Lomax, retired curator, Temple Newsam House.
The lecture is free. There's no need to book - just turn up.
In association with the Silver Society.
