Everything that Yorkshire artist Jake Attree paints is based on something he has observed and almost certainly drawn, no matter how far the painting may depart from the subject that inspired it. He has exhibited widely in the UK over the past twenty-five years.
Jake's studio at Dean Clough, an enormous mill complex in Halifax that once housed Crossley Carpets and now a thriving business and arts community, is not usually open to visitors so this is a special opportunity to meet the artist and see his work. We will also learn about Dean Clough and explore the many different galleries and other arts related activities based there.
The cost is £12.50 which includes coffee on arrival, studio visit, talk on Dean Clough and galleries visits but not lunch. Numbers are limited.
Meet at 11am at The Viaduct Cafe at the Chef's School for tea, coffee and biscuits. After the visit to Jake Attree's studio at 11.30, lunch on our own - there are several options at Dean Clough. After lunch we will regroup for tours of the galleries.
Transport: Pay and display parking is available at Dean Clough. Halifax railway station is a ten-minute walk away. For maps and more details go to the Dean Clough website (www.deanclough.com) and click on 'how to find us' on the home page.
