Nottingham Contemporary, one of the largest contemporary art institutions in the UK and ArtFund Museum of the Year nominee, opened in 2009 in an award-winning building designed by Caruso St John Architects. We will have a guided tour of the exhibition Still Undead which explores the Bauhaus in relation to art and subculture in Britain, and marks the centenary of the founding of this pioneering art and design school in Weimar.
After time to explore independently we return home via the David Mellor Visitor Centre in Hathersage. There is a small museum dedicated to the work of this well-known 20th century designer, and a shop which stocks a full range of Mellor cutlery and a large collection of British rural crafts. We will have tea and cake in the café.
£40, includes coach transport, guided tour, light refreshments but not lunch.
Coach pick-up points: 08.20 Roundhay Park, Old Tram Terminus/08.40 Kirkstall Abbey Car Park/09.00 Leeds, Aire Street (bus stop S12)
